Pinto Beans
Soak a 32 oz bag of pinto beans overnight in a large bowl of water. Rinse beans and put into a large kettle or crock pot.
Add:
meaty ham hock or country ham
one large onion, chopped
1 Tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
Fill the kettle or crock pot with water and bring to a rolling boil. Turn the heat down to maintain a slow boil and cook for four hours stirring frequently. Serve hot with cornbread, biscuits and onions!
