The Blissdom10 blogging conference, here in Nashville, TN, has not only provided me with a wealth of information about blogging, but has also introduced me to a phenominal group of creative and talented people who have stretched my brain like silly putty and inspired me to continue to follow my passion.
Hunts was the corporate sponsor for lunch and I dined with three lovely young ladies from a PR firm headquartered in NY. One recently took a boutique firm position in Chicago. All were beautiful and engaging, educated and well-traveled. And very sweet. I didn't win the door prize assigned to our table, but since it was my birthday they gave it to me... an autographed copy of George Duran's new book who was also giving cooking demonstrations in the Con Agra booth. Thank you Bea, Gillian, and Mary!!!
Besides meeting George Duran, I was also priviledged to meet Kevin Carroll. If you are unfamiliar with this gentleman, please check out his website kevincarrollkatalyst.com. He has an incredible life story and message to share. I was so excited to recieve a red kickball he used in his demonstation. Thank you Lil' FasKid from the Lady in Red!!
If there was ever the slightest twinge of disappointment, it was the moment I learned Harry Connick Jr would not be performing until after 8pm. Since I live in middle Tennesee, I hadn't reserved a hotel room at the Opryland Hotel nor did I make arrangements for anyone to care for my furbabies. Freezing rain and snow was predicted for the late evening hours and not only did I have to get home, I also had made plans for a birthday dinner with family. Meeting my precious HCJ would have to wait for another day.
If anything lifted my spirits about this situation, it was young Bea, my new 20-something friend from New York who said, "Did you know he can sing? I just learned this! I thought he was just the guy on 'Will and Grace."
Now I really feel old!
