Welcome to Charm of the Carolines

The charm and allure of the South is captivating. For who does not cherish traditions, family, history, grace, wit, chivalry, and social graces…those attributes that so readily define the heart of southern culture?

Charm of the Carolines was created to share what I know about my corner of the South (from the vantage point of a small, 1927 Craftsman cottage in middle Tennessee) with other southern belles and southern gentlemen whose families have lived here for generations and also with those who are only “Southern” in their souls, and everyone in between.

Pour yourself a tall glass of sweet tea and ease on over to the warmth and honeysuckle-sweet comfort of the Charm of the Carolines front porch for a few minutes every day for a visit. You can choose a rocker or the swing, just shoo the cat out of the way.

Some days we may discuss grandma’s recipes for Sunday dinner, such as fried chicken, dumplins, fried green tomatoes, poke, grits, mayonnaise salad, biscuits or cracklin cornbread. Don't forget desserts! Fried pies, muscadine cake, chess pie, sweet tea pie or buttermilk pie.  Or maybe you are in the mood for a smooth southern libation like a cold mint julep? If southern charm is on your mind we can share secrets that are guaranteed to make you irresistible, darlin’. Southern wit, wisdom, soil, soul, celebrations, traditions, family, food, faith, fun…it’s all here, every thread and patch that constructs the Southern cultural quilt.
