Southern Belle Rule #54 ...
Southern Belles don't wear white after the Southern Fried Festival
or before Mule Day.
Break out the white shoes, Darlin', 'cause the Mules are in town! Happy Mule Day Ya'll!!
Southern Belle Rule #93 ...
Southern Belles know the difference between a Mule, Jackass, Donkey, and Burro which makes the double entendre on those silly t-shirts pointless. We do, however, giggle a bit as we sip our sweet tea, peach bellinis or other traditional Mule Day libations and watch the tourists walk by wearing them.
Southern Belle Rule #14
Mule Day is not Mule Day without one of Annelle's Jack Daniel's Chocolate Pecan Pies. So if you haven't made your's yet, you might have to stop by Square Market Cafe and pick up one to take home.
Please forgive the short post today. I'm off enjoying all the Mule Day festivities in beautiful Columbia, Tennessee, starting with the parade. Join me? I'll be in front of Wall Candy on West 7th.
Mule Day 1950
Pictured are L to R: Claude Jarman, Jr. heir to the Jarman Shoe fortune and child star of the movie "The Yearling," Francis the Talking Army Mule from several movies (they put a splint of bamboo between his front teeth to make him "talk.") and Miss Sue Morrison (Dunnebacke) of Mount Pleasant, Mule Day Queen for 1950.
