This morning I met my friends Kathie and Tim at the courthouse to accept our aprons and judge the scarecrows at the Columbia Southern Fried Festival.
We couldn't begin our duties without proper nourishment, but none of us brought our pocketbooks. We stopped by Pie Sensation to beg a free Whoopie Pie.
I don't even know who this sweet lady is, but she picked up the tab. BLESS HER HEART!!!
I didn't even have my camera. These photos are courtesy of Kathie Fuston, scarecrow judge and community historian. I plan to nominate this fine lady for cannonization. She is a saint!!
We all loved this entry of a Hero's Welcome Home. I teared up.
Second Place was awarded to this creative entry.
Third Place went to Lady Liberty.
Although we weren't asked to make honorable mentions, we couldn't help but making mention of the County Clerk's entry.
Amazingly, it looks just like Ms Nancy!
Other beautiful scarecrows submitted...
The Southern Fried Festival goes on tonight and all day tomorrow in historic downtown Columbia. Admission is $3 and there is lots of food, music, and fun.
