Welcome to October!! My favorite month of the year!!
Nope. It's not my birthday. It's not even Christmas. Not sure why I love October, but I just do! The weather is PERFECT! And the holidays are just around the corner. It's the best month of the year!
FAVORITE PODCASTS
For the past couple of years, I've been completely obsessed with listening to podcasts. I listen each morning while getting ready for the day, and then during the day while I'm painting or walking the dog or driving in the car, and finally when I'm getting ready for bed and attempting to fall asleep.
Several friends have asked me to recommend my selections to them, so I thought why not recommend them to all of you who don't know what you are missing.
HAPPIER
1. My favorite is Happier with Gretchen Rubin. She discusses good habits, human nature and tips to happiness with her sister Elizabeth Craft. I've listened to every one of these episodes several times and anxiously await each new episode published each Wednesday morning.
BY THE BOOK
2. Quickly becoming my second favorite podcast is By the Book. Jolenta Greenberg and her friend Kristen Meinzer read and live by the rules of a self-help book each episode to figure out which ones might actually be life changing. Surprisingly every episode has been entertaining and informative, even the one of "How to Write an Ebook in less than 7-14 Days." I didn't have high expectations for this one, but it gave me the idea to publish my painting notes in an ebook, hopefully to be published early 2018. ** Be warned: Their language is a bit salty.
THE LAPTOP LIFESTYLE
3. The Laptop Lifestyle is for entrepreneurs, millennials on the go, and adventure seekers with big dreams. It was created by 3. Nashville's own Alexis Teichmiller, with the intention to educate, inspire, and challenge you to live the life you've always wanted. A life where you set your own hours and earn a living online.
It also helps me to better understand millennials. And I've made friends with several beautiful and creative millennials who invite me to meet with their artists group.
4. The Simple Sophisticate is the podcast that goes with the blog Simply Luxurious Life by Shannon Ables. She is a Francophile and believer in Quality over Quantity, a preference she learned while visiting France. I especially love her episodes dedicated to French Living, but all of them are informative and inspiring.
RONALD D. MOORE'S "OUTLANDER"
5. I don't have cable and can't see the new episodes of Outlander on Starz, but I can read the Diana Gabaldon books and listen to Executive Producer Ronald D. Moore's discussion of each week's episode on his podcast. He is usually joined by another crew member such as his wife who designs the costumes or someone from the prosthetics department or author Diana Gabaldon herself.
AND SO MANY OTHERS !!
There are others I love, but not sure they are for everyone.
If you love history, you may want to try Stuff you Missed in History Class.
If you are a wordsmith, you may enjoy Lexicon Valley.
If you are a lover of Masterpiece Theatre on PBS, let me recommend Masterpiece Studio.
And for Art Marketing, I enjoy Art Biz podcast with Alyson Stanfield and Artists Helping Artists with Leslie Saeta.
And there are so many wonderful others!! If you want to learn a new language, catch up on the Real Housewives, get new recipes, and more!
I can't live without Podcasts and hope you give one or two a listen.
Susan
PS. Please forward this newsletter to a friend and share the fun!
